We are delighted to share that Emma Richards (she/her) has recently joined the Ada Ventures team as Head of Finance.
How did we meet Emma and what was the process that led to her joining?
We’ve tried to recruit a finance lead for our team for a long time; initially through a Head of Finance process, then through a Fin-Ops (Finance & Operations) Associate process, through our usual blind hiring process with Applied.
We weren’t able to find a suitable candidate through those processes. However, about 18 months ago, Emma became our main point of contact at our external accountant firm. She was such a joy to work with, demonstrating the Ada values of being human, healthily paranoid and joyful, from the start, that after a few months of working together we asked if she would join us full-time.
Six months into her role, Emma is now fully embedded in the team and will be looking after all things finance — including fund accounting and administration, investor requests, budgeting and dealing with the day-to-day financial operations of our firm. This is very reassuring as I head of for maternity leave this summer!
A few fun facts about Emma so you can get to know her better
Emma has been working in accountancy since 2010; taking a sabbatical partway through to travel the world and live abroad. After school, she took the apprenticeship route to complete her MAAT and opting to study her ACCA qualification in her spare time whilst learning on-the-job. She loves cooking and trying new cuisines, travelling to new locations and a punny dad-joke.
If you ever meet Emma at an event, be sure to ask about her 200-item bucket list, which she’s been slowly ticking off!
